Privacy Policy
MIDI-NOX ("the app") is a MIDI monitor, router and SysEx librarian for the Mac, made by Marian Fujara ("I", "me"). This policy explains what information the app uses, where it is kept and what, if anything, leaves your Mac.
Information stored on your Mac
MIDI-NOX keeps the following in ~/Library/Application Support/MIDI-NOX on your Mac. None of it is sent to me or to anyone else.
- Routing: your routes, their transforms, forced output channels, muted ports and routing presets.
- Port names you give to your devices, and which inputs are shown in the stream.
- The SysEx library: copies of the
.syxfiles you add, and for each one its name, size, brand, model, tags, the device it is sent to and when it was last sent. - Settings, such as appearance, keyboard size and the gap between SysEx messages.
Settings → Clear All Saved Data erases all of it. Deleting the app and that folder removes it entirely.
MIDI messages
MIDI-NOX receives MIDI from the devices connected to your Mac through Apple's CoreMIDI, shows it in the live stream and sends it to the outputs you route it to. Messages are kept in memory only while the app runs, and the stream holds just the most recent 2,000. A recording is written to a file only when you choose Save CSV… or Save MIDI…, to the location you pick.
Network traffic
MIDI-NOX makes no network connections of its own. Network MIDI sessions you set up in macOS's Audio MIDI Setup appear in the app like any other device, but macOS handles that traffic, and only between the computers you connect.
The Send Feedback… command opens your email app with a new message to me. Nothing is sent unless you send that email.
What MIDI-NOX does not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising services, and no third-party code that collects data.
- No access to your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
- No device identifiers or advertising IDs are collected.
- Nothing is sold or shared with third parties.
Crash reports
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports for MIDI-NOX to me. This is controlled by you and handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
This website
This website is a set of static pages hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Cloudflare may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site; see the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Children
MIDI-NOX collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Because I hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for me to access, correct or delete. All of your MIDI-NOX data is on your Mac, under your control. If you email me, I use your message and address only to answer you, and delete them when they are no longer needed.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of information changes, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date changed. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
